KoolArt is all about movement, creativity and connecting people. It is my mission to move people around the world through dance, yoga, meditation, music and play.
Besides teaching classes and workshops across the globe, I develop projects for organizations and schools, often in collaboration with inspiring partners. By working closely with teachers, social workers, aid workers and curriculum developers I help them integrate movement in their daily practice with children.
By publishing articles in international magazines and connecting with policy makers, educational professionals and government agencies I aim to bring awareness for movement around the world.
After receiving my BA in Dance Education at the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg, the Netherlands, I went on to New York, U.S.A. where I followed the International Independent Study Program at Steps on Broadway. Upon my return to the Netherlands I achieved my MA in Education in Arts at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
In India and Indonesia I completed two 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings and I have followed multiple courses such as: Yoga for Children, Teaching in Special Education, Teaching Teachers, Journalism, Article Writing and Creative Writing.
In addition to developing projects for KoolArt, I have worked as a freelance educator for the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht, The Marnix Academy (primary school teacher training institution), The Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Dutch National Opera & Ballet. I frequently give lectures, classes and workshops about dance and movement in education to educators, primary school students and children with special educational needs.
Next to my work as a teacher I am a writer and editor for the Dutch magazine Kunstzone and I have published articles in other (Dutch) magazines and research journals. I am the National Representative on the Dutch board for Dance and the Child International (daCi), an organization that promotes the growth and development of dance for children and young people internationally.
In 2018, I founded the Moving Children Foundation to raise awareness to support movement for children around the world.
